Quartzite Lumps, Grits and Powder
Quartzite Lumps, Grits and Powder
Quartzite is a hard, compact, fine-grained, and equi-granular metamorphic rock, making it an ideal material for foundry applications. It is a chemically resistant mono-mineralic rock primarily composed of silica, with minor constituents that may vary depending on its source. Due to its high purity, quartzite is extensively used in producing ferrosilicon, industrial silica sand, silicon, and silicon carbide.
Quartz Lumps & Grits Specifications
- High content of SiO2 from 98% to 99.2%
- low content of alkali, or traces
- Low Fe content upto 0.05-1.5%%
Advantage of quartzite as industrial silica
Quartzite is highly resistant to acids, alkalis, and thermal impact, with an acid and alkali insolubility of approximately 97%. Its properties closely resemble those of the mineral quartz. Quartzite has a density ranging from 2.3 to 2.4 g/cc and a hardness of about 7 on the Mohs scale, making it extremely weather-resistant with low to very low porosity.
At Astona Minerals, we recognize quartzite as an excellent alternative to quartz aggregate due to its superior performance. Its 28-day compressive strength is higher compared to other materials, and its crushing strength surpasses that of standard ramming mass products.
Astona Minerals also supplies high-quality quartz grits specifically designed for use in the steel industry. Detailed specifications are provided below:
