Specifications and Applications of Quartz in the Ceramic Industries :
Quartz (Silica) Powder :

Quartz is a crucial component in the ceramic industry, as it helps reduce shrinkage during the drying and firing processes, and it also imparts rigidity to the ceramic body. Iron is a highly undesirable impurity, and it should be kept as low as possible. If the iron oxide (Fe2O3) content exceeds 0.1%, it can result in the formation of spots or dots on the ceramic body, which is particularly problematic for electrical insulators, as it can lead to the passage of electric current.

Most major ceramic manufacturing facilities in the country utilize high-silica quartz with a low iron content. In general, the silica (SiO2) content should be between 97-99.9%, the iron oxide (Fe2O3) content should be between 0.05-1%, and the aluminium oxide (Al2O3) content should be between 0.1-2%.
