Frac Sand
Frac Sand | Proppant Sand
Frac sand is a high-purity quartz sand known for its durability and round grains, making it highly crush-resistant. It is primarily produced for use in the petroleum industry during the hydraulic fracturing process, or “fracking,” to extract petroleum fluids such as oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids from rock formations that lack sufficient pore space for these fluids to flow to a well. Most frac sand is derived from high-purity sandstone, while alternative products include ceramic beads made from sintered bauxite or small metal beads made from aluminum.
