Specifications and Applications of Quartz in Paint & Coating Industry Quartz (Silica) Powder
As per BIS specifications (IS: 67 – 1979), the material must be of two types: crystalline and amorphous. It should contain at least 98% SiO₂ and be in dry powder form. The lead content in SiO₂ should not exceed 0.03%. The color and particle shape should be consistent with the approved sample.
High Purity Silica Powder is widely used in the paint industry and coatings, including applications such as wood finishes, primers, undercoats, water-based paints, distempers, chemical-resistant coatings, floor coatings, and epoxy coatings. Additionally, silica is used in construction chemicals and is recommended for texture coatings and exterior finishes.
